We have snow, not as
much as a typical Rangeley winter, but enough to be able to groom.
The trails are actually in very good condition. Fortunately, most of
our trails are on woods roads and they are flat and smooth.
The February
membership meeting of the RLSC will be held at the Church of the Good
Shepherd (Episcopal Church) on Main Street in Rangeley on February
10th.
Social hour will be at 5:30, dinner at 6:30 and the meeting will
follow. Dinner will be prepared and served by the girls from the
Senior Class of Rangeley Lakes Regional School. They are raising
money for their class trip. Come meet them, I’m sure you will enjoy
the meal they serve.
Easy Bucks winners for
January were Al Cormier of Leominster, MA and Ray Lee of W. Millbury,
MA. Neither was present.
Snodeo was quite
successful, despite the fact that we don’t have a huge amount of
snow. Thanks to everyone who helped out with the event and also
thanks to all the local businesses who donated items for our auction
and door prizes. Would like to list everyone by name, but don’t want
to take a chance of leaving someone out. We had a lot of help from
many people and we can’t thank you enough. We apologize for the
fireworks cancellation and would like to explain that this was due to
high winds. I have received a few e-mails from people asking why we
don’t change the date for Snodeo and put it further into the winter.
We have discussed the possibility of doing this and will be making a
decision very soon for those of you who reserve rooms early for next
Snodeo. There are other events in surrounding towns and even here in
Rangeley that we have to work around so we are looking for a “free”
weekend that we can have for Snodeo. Watch the web site for the
Snodeo 2008 date. Also, we welcome any ideas for any added events or
changes that would enhance Snodeo.
Enclosed with this
newsletter you will find an invitation to our annual steak and lobster
dinner. Please return your form as soon as possible and reserve your
seat. We can only serve 100 people. We should have plenty of snow by
then (hopefully!) and some good riding. Also you will find 50/50
raffle tickets (again!!) for a drawing to be held at the dinner in
March. The cost of the tickets is $1 each and you don’t need to be
present to win. Just fill out the portion of the ticket(s) with your
contact information and mail them back to the club. Remember, the
proceeds from all of our fundraising events go directly into the trail
fund.
It’s not too late to
enter the MSA Super Raffle drawing. If you haven’t returned your
tickets yet, you have until the 15th of February to get
them to us. The drawing is on the 20th so we need them
early enough so we can mail them to MSA. If you want more tickets,
please let me know soon and I will mail them to you.
The fleece jackets
have been very popular. We have sold a lot of them. If you would
like a jacket, you can order one by mail, e-mail, or you can purchase
one at a membership meeting. We also still have the black fleece
vests, gray t-shirts and hats, all with the club logo. Check them out
on our web page.
Here
are the results from the Snodeo activities:
Until next month……… Gail

Please
visit our Sponsors page to check out businesses who have donated
or pledged to donate to our grooming and
trail maintenance program for this season. Be sure
to patronize these businesses when in the area. It is due to their donations that we have the great riding conditions we
all enjoy!
The following members have
mailed in donations to help pay the additional cost of groomer fuel:
David Lucas,
Robert Winsor, Robert Haase, George Gardner, William Carpenter, Ed
Chapman, Rick Angelo, Brendan Brewer, Paul & Leslie
Ferguson-Packard, John Hamilton, David Wile, Joshua Curtice. Thanks
to Fred Barra for the tools donated.
MANY THANKS!!!!
