Hi Folks. We are approaching the halfway point of the
snowmobile season. It has been typically
unpredictable but we have had good riding since about January 10th. Our grooming operators are doing a good job
and we seem to have our grooming approach and schedule working well enough to
keep most riders happy. Late March comes
way too quickly so do not put off plans to ride.
Snodeo 2011.
Excellent! Every thing went well and the annual event offered people lots of
good riding and things to do and see.
Two years in a row with blue skies and comfortable cold. We have been fortunate. We have been on a
good run now for several years. We thank
Art Dower and his Atlas crew for a memorable fireworks display. Wonderful. Art donated many of the display pieces and
hand selected others to make for our best display ever. Fitting that it marks
the Club’s 25 anniversary and Art’s retirement from Atlas. It was awesome to watch it from ground zero
down on the lake. Many thanks to Mike Klemanski and his crew at Federal
Distributors of Lewiston, who donate much of the money for the fireworks as
well as the traditional Snodeo mugs, Snodeo signs, party favors and the top-line
jacket we offer as first prize at our Casino Night Dice game. They do a lot for
Snodeo year after year. We’d like to
congratulate
John Towey of Rangeley for winning the $5,000 in our sled raffle.
Snodeo is fun
but it’s a lot of work too. We thank all
the folks from the Town of Rangeley who accommodate the Snodeo activities, with
plowing, traffic control, fireworks safety, public safety and clean up. Thanks to our Snodeo Chair, Marsha Morton,
who gets it all arranged. Thanks to the
many volunteers. Mac Dudley and her
crew, Susanne and Matt; to Laurie and Dennis Muzzy; the Dumont Clan, the Watermans, Ken Johnson, Erin Pathiakis, and the Sled Girls. Thanks to Paul
Ferguson-Packard and his crew that did extraordinary work getting the radar run
set up. Thanks to Louis “Chick” Hembro for setting up the Casino Night. Thanks
to his card dealers, Kenny, Gerry and others. Thanks to Louis Haley and George
Herbert for rolling the dice games and thanks to all that just pitch in and
help. Thanks to the folks at Moose Alley who allowed us the use of their
facility. Thanks to Boss Power Sports and its sponsors who provided a fantastic
Arctic Cat F5 for our Sled Raffle and who brought the Rave-X Freestyle Show to
town. Finally, thanks to all our members who attended the events and offered
good words of encouragement and maybe a much-needed beverage.
Mark
your calendars:
SNODEO 2012 will
occur January 19, 20 and 21
If you have not
been riding here in the past couple weeks, look for some last minute trail
changes that will not be on your maps.
Several miles of ITS 84 to NH and Bosebuck, are new. There is also a connector between ITS 84 ands
ITS 89 north of Kennebago Lake. It makes a great “backcountry” loop. ITS 89 is also rerouted
because we had to close our trail over Quill Hill. Check the Web Site for details and any other
changes.
Do
not miss the membership meeting on February 12th. The Kelly family will prepare the dinner so just bring money for dinner and a small sample of potluck dessert. They
make a fabulous dinner. Remember that
February is the month that you must submit nominations for all Club Offices and
for membership on the Board of Directors.
Call any officer for more information.
