I hope everyone
had a great Christmas and New Year! Now, let’s get down to the
serious stuff – like snowmobiling!!
We have been
blessed with early snow and cold temps this year. The trails have
been groomed and are open for riding.
Remember, any
time you need to hear the current trail conditions, just call the
Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club Snow Phone at 207-864-7336 for an
updated trail report – you can call anytime, the information is
available 24 hrs/day.
December Easy
Bucks winners were Keith Grillo from East Lyme, Connecticut and
Richard Angelo from Somerville, MA. Congratulations!!!
The Club’s
new groomer has arrived and we have already
done some grooming with it.
SNODEO
will be held on January 23, 24, 25th. An
agenda of activities is posted.
Hope to see you there!!! We have a few added attractions this year
that should make for a real exciting weekend!
You will notice
on the Snodeo agenda that we have invited everyone and anyone to enter
a float in the snowmobile parade. We will be awarding trophies for
the top three floats. We have invited local businesses, other clubs
and organizations and local school children to participate. We have
had a few floats in the parade in the past couple years and they can
be a lot of fun! Give it a try!
On Friday
evening during the “Welcome to Snodeo” celebration at People’s Choice,
we do a 50/50 drawing. The winner has always won a substantial amount
of money (last year’s winner won $780). Knowing that some of you
won’t be there and to give you an opportunity to get in on the
drawing, we are enclosing ten tickets that you may purchase. You do
not have to be present to win. Just fill in the back of the ticket
and return the stub with your name and address on it and $1 for each
ticket to the club at the above address. This will enter you in the
50/50 drawing. Proceeds from this drawing (and all profits received
through entire Snodeo) are used to help cover expenses of grooming our
trail system.
Due to the high
cost of postage, this will be the last newsletter mailed out to people
who have not renewed their membership for this season. If you receive
a membership application with this newsletter, that means that you
have not joined the Club this year. Please consider sending it in.
We depend on the membership fees to help maintain and groom our
trails. It is an important source of income for the club. Also,
let’s try to keep that “#1 Club in the State of Maine” trophy in our
hands.
Don’t forget the
January membership meeting. The date is January 11th and
the meeting, as usual, will be held at the Rangeley Congregational
Church Hall in Rangeley. Dinner at 6:30, meeting follows dinner. See
you there!!
If you take the
ride from Oquossoc towards Pittsburg, New Hampshire this year on ITS
84, please be aware that we have a major trail re-route due to
logging. When you get to the “Camp 14” area, watch for signs. It
will be well-marked and this promises to be good ride. Unfortunately,
this means that we will not be using the new Magalloway River Bridge
that was built last year. This is a temporary change for this season
only. Seven Islands Land Company, who owns the property that is being
harvested, assisted us in building the new trail to go around their
logging operation, so please, use the alternate trail and stay out of
their way.
Until next
month........ Think Snow!!! Hope to see all of you at Snodeo this
year!

Please
visit our Sponsors page to check out businesses who have donated
or pledged to donate to our grooming and
trail maintenance program for this season. Be sure
to patronize these businesses when in the area. It is due to their donations that we have the great riding conditions we
all enjoy!
