It’s official!
Rangeley has seen it’s first snowfall of the season. Of course it’s
gone now but it sure did look nice while it lasted.
RLSC held the
first meeting of the season on September 13th. Easy Bucks
winners were Joe Clapp and William Perry. Get your
Easy Bucks entries in – you may be the next
winner. The next meeting will be held on October 11th with
dinner at 6:30 PM and the meeting to follow. The meetings are held at
the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsman’s Clubhouse in Oquossoc. To
get there just follow Route 4 past Oquossoc Marine and look for
“Skiway Road” on the left. The Clubhouse is on Skiway Road on the
right hand side.
Please change
the date for the November meeting on the calendar sent out with your
membership renewal packets. The correct date for the November meeting
is November 8th.
The Club
purchased a Polaris Ranger ATV to be used when the guys go out to work
on the trails. This will make it a lot easier to get a crew out there
with equipment in places inaccessible by a truck.
Last April when
the Maine Snowmobile Association awarded the RLSC the trophy for the
largest snowmobile club in Maine, the Greenville club was not too far
behind us in numbers. In the MSA newspaper last month, in the
Greenville Club News column, they challenged every member to find one
new member to join their club. If they succeed, we will lose the
trophy after receiving it for the past six years. So, guess what!!!
We would like to make the same challenge to our members. I believe
that most of us know of at least one person who rides the Rangeley
trail system and does not belong to a club. It would be nice to keep
the trophy here and also, membership fees are a large part of our
fundraising funds that go directly into the trail maintenance and
grooming accounts. Enclosed with this newsletter you will find a
blank membership form and I hope everyone
makes an effort to find at least one new member.
Also enclosed
are the MSA Super Raffle tickets with some great prizes. First price
is two snowmobiles and a trailer. Read the reverse side
of the ticket for a list of all the prizes. Remember, the club gets
to keep $1 from each ticket we sell. The proceeds from this (and all
of our fundraising activities) go directly into the trail maintenance
and grooming accounts.
SNODEO plans are ongoing. Rangeley
Logging donated a very nice trailer to the club. Clark Allen, Tim
Lyons and Don Dumont have been working on it getting it ready for
SNODEO. We will be using it to
serve food at the radar run and obstacle course events and it has
enough room to also set up a desk for registrations for these
events. Will have more on SNODEO in the November
newsletter.
Don’t forget to
visit our booth if you attend the Snowmobile Expo at the Big E
Fairgrounds in Springfield, Mass. During the weekend of October 18th.
We still have
long sleeve t-shirts and hats for sale, you
can check them out on our web page. We have all sizes available in
tan and gray and we have 3XL shirts available in white. The cost is
$18 plus shipping costs. Just write or e-mail the club if you would
like one and it will be mailed to you with an invoice.
Remember to let
us know if you have a change of address. It seems every month when
the newsletter is sent out at least one is returned due to an address
change. Also, if you let us know, we will inform MSA so you will
continue to receive your MSA newspaper each month.
The
trail maps for 2004 are in. If you would like
one, you can mail us $6 ($5 for map and $1 for shipping) and it will
be mailed to you. Or if you prefer, you can pick one up when you are
in the area. They will be available at the local snowmobile dealers,
and motels.
Until next month............
