Current Trail Conditions

Welcome to the 2012 Season!

RLSC Trail Conditions Report 2012 Season

All trails open on Good Conditions except as noted below. We picked up 3” of snow Tuesday and we expect a little more today with a small dose of freezing rain mixed in. The rest of the week and the weekend look to be good normal winter weather.

ITS 84 between NH and Oquossoc took a real beating from the Tri-State Reciprocity Weekend Traffic. The response to this event combined with Rangeley’s Trail System being one of the few places in Maine with good riding, was overwhelming.

Be very cautious if you consider riding any of the lakes. If you do choose to ride on any lakes or ponds, understand the consequences.

Events

Snodeo 2012 –It was a great weekend

We will be discussing nominations for Club Officer and Board of Director Positions after the dinner.

The Province of Quebec is offering a free riding weekend this year. We now know that it will occur February 11-12

***PLEASE RIDE RESPONSIBLY***

Important Messages

Please do not ride on plowed roads that are not posted to allow snowmobiles.

If you are not comfortable riding on the lakes, please stay off the lakes and ice. If you do not know the lakes, please use the trails. The RLSC has no trails on any body of water.

Be aware that there will be no public parking in the Rangeley Town Park this winter.  The parking area has been relocated on the trail next to Rangeley Inn. There are signs on Route 4. There is direct trail access from this new parking area.

Trail Conditions

Trails are open with new snow on a very firm base. Most trails should be packed by Saturday morning.

As of phone calls January 26th, Corridor 117 (between ITS 84 in Rangeley and ITS 82 in Mexico/Rumford) was open.  Most trails to our east (Eustis, Grand Falls and the Forks) and north toward Jackman should now be open.

New Trail designation - Corridor 108 -This trail connects ITS 84 north of Oquossoc at Junction R7 to ITS 89 near East Kennebago Mt.  at Junction R13

New Trail - Barn Trail -This new trail runs between the Russell Cove Trail just after the Airport (formerly the Club House Trail) and the Cedar Swamp Trail. It is the shortest route between Rangeley and East Kennebago Mountain. There is a portable toilet available at the RLSC Groomer Barn just off the trail. You can park and access the trail system from the Barn. If you park there please do not block trail access, parked groomers or building doors.

 Trail ratings
