Absolutely no riding on plowed roads in the Rangeley area!

We had one serious accident last season – a sled rounded on a corner and hit a truck on a plowed road.  The rider had parked his truck and unloaded next to a sign that read “no snowmobiling”.    This land is owned by paper companies and land management companies.  Most of our trail system is on their property and they will shut us down completely if this doesn’t stop.  Logging trucks and other vehicles have every right to be on these roads any time.  You are not only jeopardizing your life by riding on these roads, you are jeopardizing the entire Rangeley trail system.  Wardens have been asked to patrol these areas heavily.

We understand that some people have been removing the “no snowmobiling” signs so they can claim they didn’t know they weren’t supposed to ride there.  Maine state law states “no snowmobiling on plowed roads” – it is illegal whether there is a sign posted or not.

Snowmobiling is a popular winter activity in Maine. It contributes to the economy of the state as residents and non-residents take to the trails that span the state. Studies show that the sport of snowmobiling continues to grow each and every year. Also, snowmobiling accounts for many full-time jobs in the state.

New Club By-Laws

Notice to Club Members

We have completed an extensive revision of the Club's By-laws. We have done this to reflect and better define today's Club operations, to clarify and improve our nomination and election processes, to better define membership and to strengthen our financial controls.  We will ask for any changes and ask for a vote of approval of these By-laws at the February General Membership Meeting on 2/21. Please take a few minutes to review this document.  Your comments are appreciated by telephone (Steve Dudley  207-864-5919) or by e-mail (stevedudley@core.com). Thank you
