mourns the loss of one their own, Jack Hamilton,
who passed away on October 31, 2009 after a brief illness
surrounded by his family. In Lieu of flowers his family is
asking people to donate to the Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile
Club.
Theft Settlement -
Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club worked with the State
District Attorney’s Office to reach an out of court
settlement of the criminal case against our former
treasurer. After many months of fact finding and
negotiations with the Club, The State of Maine reached a
settlement of this case that was acceptable to the Club and
to our former treasurer and her attorney. The former
treasurer agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor theft. This
guilty plea requires a minimum sentence of 90-day jail
time. As part of the settlement, the time was waived upon
payment of $45,000 to the Club. In turn, the Club was asked
to sign an agreement that we would not file a civil suit
against our former treasurer. This was only a partial
recovery of what we believe was stolen but the Club’s
Officers and Board approved the settlement as reasonable so
that we had the money in hand and could move on with our
seasonal preparations. This money will be applied to pay
down our loans on our grooming equipment.
ITS 84/89 Trail Renovation
Project Completed -. We have been working on
this task for two years which was funded in part by a
Recreational Trail Program Grant from the State of Maine and
by the RLSC. The section of trail was on the south side of
Saddleback heading down toward Madrid and Phillips. There
has been so much snow since we started that any snowmobiler
riding through had no idea how bad the trail was. We cut
trees; excavated and blasted to get the trail back in
shape. We will publish before and after photos on this site
shortly.
Pisten Bully Edge groomer
purchased for the upcoming season - Our 2003
Pisten Bully 100 was traded in this September toward our
purchase of the more powerful Edge model. We expect
delivery in November. This machine will allow us to work
our steeper terrain more efficiently, groom faster and to
recover our trails quicker after big snowstorms. Want to
learn how to do some grooming for us this season?
