Camera location

Our web cam is located on Chick Hill Rd (at the treatment
plant near the airport) and is oriented looking south at the People's Choice trail as it comes around the
woods to cross the road. At some point we'll try to add a snow depth gauge, but for now
the scrub pines on the hill are about seven feet tall. The sign post on
the left is 6' tall and has a white tape mark on it 4 feet off the ground. If the trees
outlining the top of the right side of the hill are faint, it's flurrying
or lightly snowing. If you can't see the trees, it's snowing hard! |
Update schedule
Web cam photos are regularly updated from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
There's no outdoor spot light, so if you
see only a black box it just means there isn't enough sunlight for a
visible image. |
Thank you!
RLSC is grateful to member
Greg Kolligian who donated the
funds needed to purchase the AXIS® camera for our club.
We also want to thank Pittsburg Ridge Runners SC members
Mark Ziegler (webmaster) and
John Recesso for their invaluable
guidance and assistance in choosing, obtaining, and installing our AXIS®
2120 camera server. John is a senior account manager at Axis
Communications and offered us not only a significant discount on the
camera purchase, but provided a "fast track" to the needed expertise of
the Axis technical support staff. |

About the camera...
Our web cam is an AXIS® Model
2120 network camera server. We selected this unit not only for its
superior outdoor optical qualities, but also because it has a built in
server unit that doesn't require a computer connection. The camera is
connected only to an external modem that uploads the scheduled images over
a phone line. This gave us the flexibility to take the camera to any
location that has power and phone line hook-ups.
The unit is housed in a
Pelco® outdoor camera enclosure that is internally heated to
keep the sensitive electronics comfortable. A window defroster should help
keep the view clear on those sub-zero days! |
