Good afternoon folks
Sunday January 4
Happy new year everyone

Hope everybody got out to ride this week

It was nice see all the sledders In town and being able to enjoy some early riding

We have been able to open a few more of the closures we have. At this time the only closure that remains is from burnt mountain rd to New Hampshire. We are hoping the logging operation finishes up this week and be able to open that and a small aection of 84 towards greenville cove(see maps below)

There are a couple reroutes that are shown on the map and marked on the trails to get you in the right direction

Please join the club to help out with our grooming operations

Happy sledding!!

All trails from end of Boy Scout road left to New Hampshire are closed
Please ride with caution as it’s still early conditions.

Monday December 29, 2025
Well Mother Nature has struck again
We have received rain overnight and all day today
At this time we will not be opening the trails tomorrow.
We’ll assess the conditions tomorrow and hopefully try and get something opened up later this week if conditions improve. We have cold coming back in so hopefully it freezes everything back up and we get some snow on the top
Thanks
RlSC

Good evening folks
Saturday, December 27
Sorry for the long post, but we have some important housekeeping items to cover.
Trail Opening
Trails are scheduled to open Tuesday, December 30.
An updated trail map with closures will be posted before then.
Major Trail Closures
All trails from the end of Boy Scout Road in Oquossoc to the New Hampshire border are completely closed until logging operations are finished (hopefully within the next couple of weeks). 84 west
Please stay off these trails until permission is granted. Any issues could result in us losing access permanently.
84 east on boyscout rd Is open to Rangeley
Road & Parking Closures
The following roads — and surrounding areas — are completely closed this winter for snowmobiles and truck and car traffic
Mortin Cutoff
Lincoln Pond Road
Tim Pond Road
Burnt Mountain Road
There is NO truck or trailer parking in this area this winter.
Trucks and trailers will be towed.
There are multiple active logging operations in this area. Traffic creates serious safety risks for both riders and workers. This is how these companies make their living, and unfortunately their work overlaps with snowmobile season.
It may not be what everyone wants to hear, but we should be grateful for the trails we do have access to and respect the closures that keep everyone safe.
There is no snowmobiling allowed on any plowed roads
Trail Reroute
ITS Trail 84 has been rerouted slightly around the lake.
Please follow posted signs for the rerouted section.
Early Season Reminder
Riding conditions are still early season.
Keep speeds down and watch for water bars, hazards, and thin cover.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping protect our trail access.
Thanks to all the volunteers for there efforts in getting the trails open
Good morning folks
Friday December 26
We have received about 12” of snow over the last few days. We are clearing some wind damage from last week and packing the trails the next couple,e days. We have numerous logging operations going on this winter and waiting for a few to finish up to get access through these areas
We are hoping to have some trails opened up next week. We’ll post updates in the coming days with what will be available for riding
Good morning folks
Tuesday December 16
Not the news everyone wants to hear but we are going delay opening the trails this weekend. There are many factors in this decision.. First and foremost the safety of all the riders and all the first responders. We really need more snow and based on the weather forecast we want to preserve what snow we have. There are heavy logging operations this winter and many trails are not accessible until after Christmas and new years
We will continue to Monitor the weather and conditions and keep you all updated when we plan to open the trails.
Think snow
Happy holidays to everyone

Archived Trail Reports

January 10 2024
Good morning folks
Trail report
We have received flurries all week. We got anywhere from 2-6" depending on location some places received more than others. In town is very light coverage with wind blown snow in spots. The trails from Oquossoc to New Hampshire have been groomed and pretty good condition with what snow we have. Tim pond rd to 4 corners have been groomed as well. Arnold trail is grooming to 4 corners also. The rest of the trails remain open some are groomed and packed some are not snow depths vary greatly from area to area
Please use extreme caution if out there with early season conditions
Be aware of other sleds and groomers could be out anytime of the day

January 9 2025
The groomer went out of Oquossoc last night and the trails out that way towards NH have about 3" of fresh snow and more tonight. So we have resumed some grooming and will keep you posted!

January 6 2025
Good afternoon folks
Just want to pass along the new in town designated roads allowing snowmobile travel
Here is the list or streets that are snowmobile access in town. Please stay off all other roads as they are not snowmobile access
snowmobile travel on the extreme right of the public way may be conducted safely and will not interfere with vehicular traffic on the public way on
Allen Street, upper Pleasant Street (above School Street), Oquossoc Avenue, Center Street, School Street, and Cross Street
Thank you

January 1  2025
Good afternoon folks happy new year
As of 2pm today we have received less than 2" of snow. We lost a lot of the base with the warm and rain the other day
We have stopped all grooming and packing until we get more substantial snow. The trails will remain open but conditions are fair at best. We would prefer that you don't ride them to preserve what little snow we have. I wouldn't recommend coming into town. The best conditions and don't think they will be great is north towards New Hampshire
Wish we had better news but playing the cards we are dealt
We have cold weather coming but not any snow in the forecast at this point
If you haven't joined the club yet please do and purchase your raffle tickets from the local business
Pray for snow

December 29 2024
Good afternoon folks
Hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the early riding
Unfortunately we have some not so great weather moving in. We would ask that you stay off the trails tomorrow to save what base we can and keep as much snow on as we can
Hopefully we get some snow on Wednesday after the rain comes through. Temperatures turn cold again after Thursday so things will freeze back up
Hope everyone has a happy new year

December 28 2024
Another trail update!
84 around the south side of the lake connecting to 117 is now open!

December 28 2024
Good morning club! Last night we were out grooming and packing the majority of our trail system so now we are open with a few exceptions:
-The south side of the lake is now OPEN!
-M&H Trail out towards Stratton is closed as it's currently being plowed.
-Also please be aware of the logging operations out towards NH. You should only be sharing a plowed road for less than 1/2 a mile by the old train depot by Parmachenee!
Bonus: We open up the Otter Brook Loop off of Tim Pond Road. This adds a nice loop and is worth checking out!
Also TIM POND ROAD IS GROOMED!
Ride safe. Ride right. Ride in control. HAVE FUN!

December 27 2024
Good afternoon folks
Our groomers and volunteers have been out non stop getting the trails ready to open. As of today we have gotten to most everything and it's all passable some parts are very good and some parts are very thin
We are opening the complete trail system at this time except 84 around the back side of the lake That being said we are asking that you keep your speed down and be aware. We still have very early season conditions and could be hazards in the trail
Please do don't go onto the LAKE it just froze over 4 days ago and is not safe please don't risk your life and the peoples that would have to rescue you
We do have some logging operations going on and they are marked when you approach them please obey all the signs and no snowmobiles on plowed roads
Please be safe and enjoy the riding
Edit 84 from Oquossoc around the back of the lake to Nibboban and rev it up will remain closed at this time

December 26 2024
Good morning club! What an absolutely magical 10 hr ride we had in the groomer out to NH last night! Few things to note when headed out that way:

-Burnt Mountain Road is Plowed due to logging so the ALT84/Brunt mtn trail is CLOSED
-There is another logging operation before R41 so we are using the old 84 (same trail as last year follow signs)
-There is a third logging operation that's going into the depot on the other side of Parmachenee so we do have to share a plowed road for about 1/2 mile before going into the woods.

Trails came out great! Get out and ride!

More updates to follow!

December 24 2024
Good morning folks
We received about 6-8" of light fluffy snow in town
Please stay of any lake they are not safe
For anyone looking to get out and try there sleds we are opening some trails. At this point the only trails open are from Oquossoc towards New Hampshire. The trails are not groomed so please use caution and keep your speed down this is very early season conditions. There will be hazards and water bars to watch out for
The rest of the trails will remain closed until Saturday when we hope to open some more open
We have some reroutes and gates to open before we can access these other trails
Please respect the landowners and only ride what is open at this time if not we'll lose access on these other trails
We'll be out Thursday and Friday getting some other stuff packed and signed
We'll update later in the week with more information
Merry Christmas to all

December 23 2024
Good evening folks
Unfortunately we haven't gotten any snow so the trails remain closed. We may get a little tonight but still not enough to cover everything up
Will keep you all updated on amounts and when trails will open
Anyone who is interested in helping out with some last minute trail maintenance this Friday please send a message and will direct you on what needs to be done
Happy and safe holidays to everyone

December 15 2024
Good morning folks
It’s December 15 unfortunately our trail system is not open. Please respect the land owners and stay off the trails. There is not enough snow and spots are still soft with open water. We don’t want to jeopardize losing these trails
Weather looks cold to freeze everything up and hopefully some more snow later next week
Keep doing the snow dance and keep your eyes open for trail opening updates

NO LAKE IS EVER "SAFE"!

Please do not attempt to walk, ski or ride snowmobiles on the lakes unless you are absolutely sure that the ice conditions will support you
and your equipment.  Rangeley has plenty of trails on land for snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing and walking.  If you must ride on the lakes,
please use caution.
